Wicked Game

by Chris Isaak.

From Wikipedia:

The song is a ballad wherein the speaker laments over the rejection of his one true love ("no one could save me but you"), who does not feel the same way about him as he does her ("What a wicked thing to say, you never felt this way"). In the chorus, the narrator pines for not wanting to fall in love because of the pain of heartbreak. However, he expresses his reluctance at not wanting to "fall in love" with her, evident in the virtually silent "don't" in the chorus line ("No I [don't] want to fall in love"). This also indicates that, despite his awareness of the pain of lost love, the speaker is so blinded by love that he cannot help but yearn for her and is torn between his desire for her and avoiding the pain of loss and heartbreak.

The world was on fire
No one could save me but you.
Strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

No, I don't want to fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]
No, I don't want to fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]
With you
With you

What a wicked game you play
To make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to do
To let me dream of you
What a wicked thing to say
You never felt this way
What a wicked thing to do
To make me dream of you
And I don't wanna fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]
And I don't want to fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]

Nobody loves no one
